Lately in my consultations with brides I find myself explaining more and more why I became a wedding planner and why I do what I do. It’s actually very funny because me and a friend (who is also a wedding planner) were talking and we kept saying how people think that our jobs are just SO glamorous! It’s true at some of our events we have some fun and get to enjoy really good entertainment and food but the reality is that 9/10 times we work really really hard and nothing about that sweat equity is glamorous. Most REALLY good wedding and event planners do it for the love of the job and people.

So in those consultations the purpose behind explaining the WHY is because I want clients to understand that from the beginning of our time together they now have someone on their corner rooting for them and their marriage. You see, I started planning weddings before I myself was married and at the time it was simply a career path. I knew very early on in life that I wanted to be an entrepreneur and wasn’t built to sit behind a desk in a cubicle all my life. What I didn’t know is that planning weddings would become a passion and purpose for my life.

The job of a wedding planner isn’t an easy one but it sure can be rewarding. 

Today I have been married for seven and a half years, to Alfred Record, a man that I approached and just yesterday visited the location where we first met. I’m a wedding planner because as a wife I now know what marriage actually looks like from the inside out. I know that it’s not always easy, I know that with every transition in life you will likely also face an obstacle. Just as important I am a wedding planner because as a wife I know that marriage is beautiful, I know that I am the only other person that can read the expressions on my husbands face and know exactly what he is thinking.

The job of a wedding planner isn’t an easy one but it sure can be rewarding. To all the couples that have and will choose to work with Swank Soiree, we thank and appreciate you!
